Suspension Admissions is One Penalty for Nursing Home Abuse

By nursing-home-lawyer | May 2, 2007

Here’s an example of the results you can get from bringing  complaints to state regulators.

Nursing Home Admissions Suspended
State regulators have suspended new patient admissions to a nursing home in Milan, saying patients needs were neglected.

The Douglas Nursing Home also was handed a $1,500 penalty and state Health Department officials have recommended a daily fine of $3,000 until the problems are corrected.

The department says a complaint survey in April found problems including failing to monitor medications, failing to complete lab work and neglect of patients. Nutritional deficiencies and failing to notify doctors of changes in patients conditions were also noted as was failing to follow doctors orders regarding patient care.
